John Holland will extend mental health and support services for suppliers in recognition of difficulties faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
CEO Joe Barr said suppliers would be contacted today to inform them of the company’s new Supplier Support service, designed to assist subcontractors and partners through challenging times.
“On R U OK? Day, we pause across work sites and offices to start conversations about mental health with our employees. This year, we recognise this conversation needs to be much wider,” Mr Barr said.
“Mental health is a serious issue in the construction industry, and we know that this year has forced us all to confront many more personal and professional challenges due to significant changes in our way of life and how we work.
“From today, we will extend support services to all our suppliers, including free access to independent psychologists 24 hours a day, seven days a week for all their employees.
“We will also offer a dedicated help desk to share resources and expertise to assist businesses with navigating the changes in the industry, as well as a confidential forum for suppliers to flag any hardships they are facing so we can work together on solutions.
“We know that the best way to get through a challenge is by working together.”
