John Holland proud to help deliver Canberra’s biggest infrastructure project

Canberra Metro will carry its first passengers today, marking a new era of transport for Australia’s capital.

John Holland CEO Joe Barr today thanked the project team who made the light rail a reality after three years of construction.

“We are so proud of all our people who worked hard on this historic project to make our capital city more connected than ever before. Canberra Metro carrying its first passengers marks an historic moment for this safe, modern and reliable new service,” Mr Barr said.

“We know this new transport system is only possible thanks to the thousands of people who worked together to see it through.”

“We want to thank Canberrans for their patience during construction, and the ACT Government for trusting us with this iconic project. We look forward to working hard to make light rail their preferred choice for moving around the city,” Mr Barr said.

John Holland is one of Australia’s only end-to-end rail providers, able to design, construct, operate and maintain complex rail networks.

Executive General Manager, Rail, Steve Butcher said Canberra Metro also marked a new era for the company.

“We have rail in our DNA, and our focus will be on delivering a light rail that puts customers first,” Mr Butcher said.
