Chief Executive Officer
Joe has had an outstanding career in the construction industry over the past 30-years, both domestically in Australia and internationally in the Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern regions. He was most recently the CEO of Hansen Yuncken.
He spent several years working in Dubai, where he was responsible for a range of development projects with a portfolio value of approximately US$27bn and annual turnover of around US$4bn.
Joe is passionate about fostering career pathways, and providing opportunities for employees.
Chief Financial Officer
Darryn Ray joined John Holland in 1994 after more than seven years with a major chartered accounting firm. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2006.
Darryn is responsible for all financial and management reporting, external and internal audits, taxation, treasury and investments, company secretarial and governance, information and communication technology and remuneration and benefits. Darryn is a Member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Executive General Manager - Operational Risk
Greg Cain is Executive General Manager, Operational Risk. In this role, Greg is responsible for the coordination of all operational aspects of Commercial, Pre-Contracts, Operations Risk, HR, L&D and Employee Relations.
Greg has more than 30 years experience in the construction industry during which time he has gained a deep knowledge of design, construction and project management.
Executive General Manager - Major Projects Support
Russell Cuttler has more than 30 years experience in the construction industry, both in Australia and overseas. He has been involved in numerous significant projects, including Eastlink, the Lane Cove Tunnel and the Channel Tunnel.
Russell has held a number of general management and executive roles within our business and is now Executive General Manager, Major Projects Support, where he is focused on supporting the winning and delivery of the new mega projects John Holland will be tendering for over the coming few years. Russell is a Director of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia.
Executive General Manager - Infrastructure
As Executive General Manager, Infrastructure, Jim is responsible for strategic planning, operations and the development of a portfolio of business activities, with a particular focus on the worldwide emerging infrastructure markets.
Prior to his appointment in May 2015, Jim served as the Managing Director of a global contractor in India and was responsible for their oil and gas, buildings, infrastructure and mining operations comprising over 4000 employees. Jim draws upon an intensive 28 year career in which he has held leadership roles in Australia, India, Asia, and the Middle East.
Executive General Manager - Rail
Gary is the Executive General Manager of John Holland’s Rail Business Group. John Holland is the largest railway construction, maintenance and services provider in Australia and one of the largest in the world. The Rail business is responsible for the delivery of major rail infrastructure projects across Australia & NZ as well as supporting our international interests offshore.
Since joining John Holland in 2009, he has focussed on growing the organisation’s capabilities in rail to a full vertically integrated offering. Gary is recognised as a leader within the Australian rail industry, having held senior appointments at CEO, Board and executive levels in the government rail sector and having been instrumental in winning more than $7bn of rail projects in the private sector.
Executive General Manager - Development & Investments
As Executive General Manager of Development and Investments, Tom is responsible for securing projects that will deliver both construction and investment opportunities across the infrastructure and real estate sectors and also selective mergers and acquisitions that support our growth agenda.
Tom has an extensive background in the infrastructure, real estate and construction industries and during his 30 year career has successfully led numerous large infrastructure and real estate transactions from origination and project leadership through to transaction structuring. Tom has been involved in significant PPP projects covering a variety of sectors including sporting and entertainment, convention and exhibition, health, transportation and defence, as well as real estate developments including office parks, industrial and mixed esidential/retail/commercial and mergers and acquisitions and corporate advice.
Tom brings significant experience with his skills covering project and corporate finance; debt and equity structuring; project and asset backed bond issues; property development finance; equity capital markets; corporate advisory; and mergers and acquisitions.
Executive General Manager - Customer and Corporate Affairs
Larry McGrath is Executive General Manager, Customer and Corporate Affairs. He is responsible for ensuring we meet the needs of our customers and works to position the company for future growth opportunities.
Larry’s career has seen him work across the public and private sectors in transport and infrastructure, helping to deliver major projects and implement significant reform initiatives. Larry’s previous roles have included managing the transport division of a major infrastructure industry group, and working in senior roles in the New South Wales Government. As Chief of Staff to NSW Minister for Transport and then Treasurer, The Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP, Larry helped bring to market and deliver major PPP projects like the North West Rail Link and Sydney Light Rail, and was critically involved transport planning and policy, operations, procurement, financing, budgeting, service delivery and communications.
Executive General Manager, VIC/SA/TAS & NZ
Trevor has more than 25 years of construction experience covering a wide range of infrastructure projects including civil, marine, tunnelling and telecommunications. He has worked on the full spectrum of projects around Australia, including as Project Director on the $3b Clem 7 tunnel in Brisbane. Trevor has held senior management roles within Tier 1 infrastructure companies and operates with a strong strategic focus.
Executive General Manager, NSW/ACT
Scott has significant project delivery and business management experience from senior roles within some of Australia’s leading engineering, building and rail infrastructure companies. With over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, Scott has significant experience in leadership roles on major civil and building projects, and a clear focus on forging strong customer relationships. Formerly a Board Member of NSW Civil Contractors Federation as well as a current Board member of Roads Australia, Scott has a real passion for the construction industry.
WA Region Manager
With almost 30 years’ in the construction industry, Lindsay brings significant project and management experience to our business.
Lindsay joined John Holland in 2011 as Manager - General Building. In this senior operational role, he provided strategic support to Project Managers and oversaw multiple building and upgrade projects throughout Western Australia, including hospitals, schools, an immigration centre, airport and other public infrastructure.
Defining features of Lindsay’s leadership style include his ability to create high performing team and project cultures. He believes accountability, integrity and developing strong relationships with customers and other project stakeholders are critical to the successful delivery of projects.
Executive General Manager, South East Asia
John has extensive engineering experience on large-scale projects across South East Asia including major irrigation projects in Indonesia, logistical planning and surveying in Laos, building and infrastructure projects for the Ministry of Defence in Singapore, rail, tunnelling and marine works in Hong Kong, and the construction of the Australian embassy in Cambodia.
John returned to Australia in 2008, and has worked with John Holland since that time in project management roles and most recently, as the Operations Manager – Engineering, WA, overseeing major regional road jobs for Main Roads, and the Wheatstone and Gorgon projects for Bechtel and Chevron.
Executive General Manager - Building
David Lehmann is our Executive General Manager – Building. David is a highly skilled and dynamic business leader with over 20 years’ experience in the property and construction industry and strong credentials in strategy, operational excellence and large-scale project delivery.
David has worked in South East Asia and China, as well as various roles in the construction industry in Australia. This background makes him ideally placed to grow John Holland’s building business and ensure we leverage the growing portfolio of opportunities emerging from our Development & Investments Group.
Chief Strategy Officer
Jayne Whitney leads the John Holland Strategy Team across business strategy and strategic growth. She also leads the Sustainability Team, embedding sustainability leadership in John Holland and across our markets. She has worked in various executive roles within the construction industry over the past 20-years, and possesses strong credentials in strategy, business development, marketing, sustainability and governance.
An experienced leader, Jayne has a proven track record of driving change and delivering results in the energy, utilities and infrastructure markets.
Executive General Manager, People Policy
Steve is a highly experienced leader in Human Resources, Organisation Development and Change Management with extensive multi-sector experience in blue-chip companies across financial services, pharmaceuticals and technology. He has held both regional and Australian HR Director roles, where he successfully developed and implemented people and culture strategy.
As our Executive General Manager, People Policy, Steve is a strategic ‘big picture’ thinker with a track record of integrating people and culture strategies aligned to business goals. He is also an accredited coach with a passion for helping talented individuals strive to achieve their full potential in life and work.
