Rail Training business launched

John Holland has launched a Rail Training business to the wider market.

Speaking at the AusRail exhibition in Adelaide, Executive General Manager Rail, Gary Seabury, said the timing was right to expand the rail training capability.

“We have been providing rail training to our own people and joint venture partners for more than a decade and in that time we have trained over 5,000 people, establishing a successful reputation for delivering quality training that delivers results,” said Mr Seabury.

“With the rail industry in the midst of a period of significant investment in new projects and improvements to existing infrastructure, there is an opportunity for us to build on our track record as a training provider in order to meet the expected growth in training needs across the industry.”

John Holland will look to promote its training offering to a range of new customers across the rail industry, including government bodies, freight rail network owners and operators, contractors and other specialist providers.
John Holland’s rail training offering is divided into three key areas:

  • Rail courses – Comprehensive suite of over 45 accredited rail competency training courses nationally, along with a wide range of non-accredited training specialising in rail plant and machinery;
  • Non rail courses - Complementing rail specific training is a range of general industry courses. These are designed to provide participants with enhanced skills and competencies across a number of areas such as team leadership, fatigue management and communications; and
  • Instructional Design Service - Customers are able to utilise this service to either tailor current packages or develop new courseware in order to meet specific requirements.

The training services are delivered by a national team of specialist trainers with more than 130 years of combined rail industry experience. They are supported by a dedicated group comprising technical instructional designers and coordinators who ensure course content is engaging and at the forefront of industry best practice.
