Hosted by the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue, the BOOMTOWN! 2017 Western Sydney Property & Infrastructure Summit brings together key stakeholders and showcases the major projects that will shape Western Sydney into the future

Its Project of the Year award acknowledges completed (or near completed) major projects over the past 12 months that have, or will, significantly contribute to the sustainable growth of Greater Western Sydney.

John Holland designed and constructed the Western Sydney University campus in partnership with Charter Hall. The $220.5m building was officially unveiled by the NSW Premier, the Hon. Gladys Berejiklian in May 2017.

Executive General Manager – Building, David Lehmann, said the high-rise, five-star building is the first vertical campus for the University, and the first of its campuses to be embedded in the heart of a major CBD.

“The campus is home to 10,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students from the University’s School of Business and other discipline areas, and reflects their standing as a world-class education and research facility,” he said.

“It offers a digitally-infused, technology-rich teaching and research environment. The new vertical campus is an example of how workspaces and education can combine to deliver a smart, energy efficient building.”

1PSQ comprises 26,500 square metres of A Grade commercial floor area over 14 storeys, including two levels of basement parking, bicycle racks, lockers and a landscaped roof terrace. The project also features a ground level public art installation, Allegory of a Cave, which is a modular sculpture made from suspended square blocks of varied heights and colours, and fabricated from painted and brushed aluminium.

The Western Sydney University Parramatta CBD Campus has previously won the Urban Taskforce 2017 Commercial Office Metro Development award and the NSW Master Builders Association (MBA) 2017 Excellence in Construction Awards - Best Commercial Building $50-$100m.
