Arts, Sports & Leisure
Our nations passion for sport, the arts and leisure demands facilities designed for the specifics of each event hosted – high-end theatres with great acoustics, museums that can complement themes from international and national exhibitions, or events for large crowds – all catering to the specialised needs of the entertainment sector.
John Holland has a strong history of delivering significant social infrastructure projects that enhance Australia’s cultural landscape. These include theatres, museums, galleries, libraries, sport stadiums, hotels and casinos.
The sophisticated arts and cultural venues we have delivered demonstrate our passion for leading-edge design and architecture. We built the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia and the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. We also upgraded the western foyer and provided improved vehicle access and pedestrian safety at the Sydney Opera House.
We have extensive experience in the delivery of luxury developments, including the City of Dreams in Macau. This mega-project included the delivery of a deluxe high rise hotel accommodation, serviced apartments, an underwater-themed casino, a luxury retail arcade, a variety of prestigious international food and beverage outlets and a 2,000 seat performance auditorium.
We are also behind some of the world’s eminent sport and leisure facilities. The Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre, Great Southern Stand of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Energy Australia Stadium – Eastern Grandstand and the National Sports Centre, all demonstrate our breadth of capability in this sector.
Each of the many bespoke projects we have delivered in this sector presents unique challenges which require significant expertise in design and construction. In addition, many of these buildings and precincts remain operational during construction and we are dedicated to working closely with our stakeholders and the public to ensure seamless operations continue while the project is delivered safely.
