Devil Creek Development Project Phase A & B
This Devil Creek Development project was constructed on a Greenfield site, approximately 50 kilometres from Karratha in Western Australia, with the aim to provide domestic gas to the Western Australian energy market.
The specific scope of works, incorporating a significant volume of earthworks and civil construction, includes the construction of an onshore processing facility comprising gas treatment/dehydration, condensate liquid stabilisation, storage and road load-out, gas compression and metering. An onshore pipeline was also constructed as part of the works, in addition to the construction of a tie-in to the existing Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline. Critical construction interfaces between each of these disciplines were managed by John Holland, delivering program and coordination benefits to the overall project. John Holland also managed the residential village associated with the construction.
The project team overcame a multitude of challenges, including high local labour demand resulting in trades shortages and significant turnover, a fly-in-fly-out workforce, remote operations and harsh weather (including record cyclone activity). Despite such challenges, the project was delivered on time and to a high standard.
